I’m excited to share my latest mixed media piece, Ubuntu Speaks. Measuring 10 by 8 inches, this artwork centers on a raised black fist gripping a microphone, created with textured vinyl that gives tangible presence to its form. Behind it, vertical stripes of red, gold, and green glitter shimmer against a metallic copper background, adding depth and vibrancy. Just below the fist, the word “Ubuntu” stands boldly, anchoring the composition with clarity and intention.

Ubuntu Speaks embodies a philosophy that goes beyond words. Ubuntu reminds us that our humanity flourishes when we recognize our shared connection—that kindness, compassion, and unity are the true measures of who we are. The raised fist holds a microphone as an emblem of voice and amplification, symbolizing the power of communication to bridge differences and uplift communities.

In creating this piece, I wanted to visually express how voices matter—not just in speaking out, but in listening and fostering collective understanding. The glitter’s radiant glow contrasts with the firm black fist, highlighting the dynamic tension between strength and hope. The process of working with textured vinyl was particularly meaningful.
